The FCIB Miami International Round Table forum is not to be missed. It is an exceptional educational and networking opportunity for the international trade professional.
This Round Table forum will include a keynote presentation and an in-depth question and answer session, led by a moderator and a panel of experts—highly successful and recognized practitioners in the international credit, risk management and trade finance fields. The agenda is derived from questions and topics of interest submitted by attendees. Discussion of the key issues of the day and exchange of information with industry peers and executives is the highlight of FCIB's International Round Table forums.

Bios:
Paul Angeli has over 30 years of experience in the area of international trade. After working as an underwriter at the Foreign Credit insurance Association in the 1970’s, he subsequently worked for over 15 years with Chemical Bank, and then The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., financing exports and imports. As a Trade Banker, he worked with Eximbank and private sector insurers to arrange financing for everything from commodity exports to Nuclear Power Plants.
In 1991, Paul joined The Credit International Associates, Inc. (CIA), a New York City based specialist broker of credit and political risk insurance, eventually becoming President. At the time, CIA New York was part of London-based CIA Ltd., then the largest specialist broker of credit insurance in the world.
In 1996, Aon Risk Services acquired CIA Ltd., and renamed the global group Aon Trade Credit (ATC). Paul managed the NYC office of ATC until 2003, when he moved into a sales position, responsible for working with corporate and financial clients to develop and arrange risk mitigation programs through the placement of credit and political risk insurance solutions.
In 2007, Paul joined One Source Risk Management and Funding, Inc. of Portland, Maine, where he is Sales Vice President, responsible for developing credit and political risk insurance solutions for banking and corporate clients along the East Coast.
Paul has both a B.A. in Economic and an MBA in Finance from Fordham University in New York City.
Angela Hodges, MIM and CICP is Latin America Credit Supervisor for Eastman Chemical Company, which manufactures and markets chemicals, fibers and plastics worldwide. She has responsibility for Eastman's regional credit employees based in Mexico and Brazil, as well as the overall management of up to a $180 million accounts receivable portfolio, which represents sales to @ 400 active customers in 25 countries. Prior to joining Eastman Chemical, Angela spent almost 14 years with Alcoa Inter-America, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcoa Inc.) where she managed their entire export region portfolio, including Latin America, Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Since graduating from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, Angela's career has been focused entirely on international credit challenges. Angela has garnered almost 20 years of experience in credit management, all with Fortune 500 corporations. Angela has been an active FCIB member since 1997 and was in the very first CICP graduating class. Currently, she is also serving on the Advisory Council to the FCIB Board of Directors.
Carlos Machado, formally the International Credit Manager of Export Credit at Cargill Inc, is now the Controller at ED&F Man Sugar Inc., a sugar trading company responsible for the US and Central America and the Caribbean. Carlos has over 16 years of international credit experience with a strong focus on Latin American risk. He has been a member and strong supporter of FCIB for over 10 years.
John C. Marsha, II is vice president and international business development manager of CIT’s Trade Finance unit; a business group of CIT Group Inc. (NYSE:CIT). Founded in 1908, CIT is a leading global commercial financing company. CIT’s Trade Finance unit is one of the world’s leading providers of domestic and international customized credit protection, accounts receivable management and lending services. John’s primary role is to tailor financial solutions that help companies of all sizes increase sales, improve cash flow, reduce operating expenses and eliminate customer credit losses.
Prior to joining CIT, John was regional manager and a specialist trade credit and political risk insurance broker with Marsh & McLennan and Aon Risk Services in the southeastern United States. He started his career as a business credit analyst with Dun & Bradstreet in New York.
Raised in Buffalo, NY, John now lives with his wife and four children in Marietta, GA. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Economics at State University of New York at Buffalo (“SUNY”), which included two years of Mandarin Chinese. He’s also a certified correspondent of the Factors Chain International (“FCI”), and maintains his property and casualty, general lines insurance agent license.
Over the past five years, John has been a featured speaker at the National Chemical Credit Association, the Association for Corporate Growth, the National Floor Covering Credit Group and the Associação de Comércio Exterior do Brasil (AEB) Foreign Trade Association of Brazil.
Fernando Mesia is Vice President of Corporate Banking at Trade Finance for Commercebank in Miami, Florida. Prior to Commercebank, Fernando was head of international corporate and correspondent banking for Banque Sudameris, a french-italian trade finance bank. He has more than 15 years of experience in trade finance, international lending and credit risk management.
Marcelino Plaza is the head of the Trade Finance Products Area of Banco Mercantil. A Business Administration graduate from Caracas's Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, with post-graduate studies abroad, Mr. Plaza has over 30 years experience in the financial sector, more than 20 of which in international banking. Mr. Plaza is a specialist in Trade Finance-related business and has worked for several Venezuelan banks.
