China's new bankruptcy law became effective on June 1, 2007. This law represents China's effort to modernize its bankruptcy law and more closely align it to United States bankruptcy law and international business practices. The program discusses the key provisions of China's new Enterprise Bankruptcy Law and their impact on a creditor's ability to collect its claim against a customer in China, the new law's improvements over China's prior bankruptcy law, its similarities and differences with U.S. bankruptcy law, and upcoming challenges in implementing the new law.
